Who covers the tab

You never pay to rack up a frame or throw a dart here, and you never sign up. Someone still has to cover the costs, so here is the honest answer.

Adverts in marked spaces. Hosting, the domain and the hours of tuning each table cost money, and adverts pay for them. You will only meet them on reading pages, never on a table: the home page, the lists of challenges, the game index and the guides. Each sits in its own panel labelled “Advertising space”.

Google AdSense — on its way. We are setting up Google AdSense as the advertising network. Until it is switched on, those panels show a notice of our own that points back to this page, and nothing in them comes from another company.

Sponsored games. Firms are also welcome to put their name to a single game or to a block of numbered challenges. Its name then appears in a line marked “Sponsored by…”, at the top or bottom of the page, never on the table. Physics, the computer opponent and the challenges themselves stay exactly the same for everybody. There are no sponsors at the moment.

House rules we will not break

  • No adverts on the table, over the cue, the aiming line or any game button.
  • No paid advantages: no better cues, extra shots or easier opponents for money.
  • No selling or sharing of visitor data. The privacy page spells out what stays on your device.
  • No pop-ups or full-screen adverts that interrupt a frame, a leg or a round.

Advertising or sponsoring a game

Write to hello@pubgamesparlour.com with the name of your company and the game or challenges you have in mind. Adverts and sponsors have to suit a family-friendly games room; anything else is turned down.
